Biography
KingEnvyIA is a Portuguese-Canadian music project from Toronto's Little Portugal — bilingual songs, sung in European Portuguese and English, that live between two languages and two homes. It's created with AI music tools, but the lyrics, the stories, and the roots are the creator's own: a son of the Azores and mainland Portugal, raised in the diaspora of the 416.
The sound is warm, sunset-to-night diaspora deep-house — European-Portuguese vocals over an organic, danceable groove, with Azorean folk threaded through the electronics: the viola da terra, the Portuguese guitar, and the saudade of building a life between two flags. From festa anthems to emotional, fado-tinged records, KingEnvyIA is the voice of a community that is proud, nostalgic, and made for the dancefloor and the heart alike.
His roots run straight through the music. His mother is from Arrifes, on the Azorean island of São Miguel; his father was from Peniche, on the mainland Atlantic coast. Those two Portugals — carried across the ocean to Toronto — are the heartbeat of the whole project, and the subject of his upcoming EP, RAÍZES. 🇵🇹🇨🇦
